Who we are
St. Gallen Model United Nations was created in 2011 as a result of the intense work of dedicated students and the precious input from the Swiss Youth UN Network, an organisation affiliated to the Swiss Department of Foreign Affairs.
With all of these activities, we strive to develop a pole of excellence in St. Gallen, while benefiting from the enormous potential that lies within our University. Students from all majors meet and debate, acquiring valuable interdisciplinary skills in public speaking and negotiation, while meeting new friends. This element of networking is further strengthened by regular theme work and attractive socials throughout the year, providing a welcome break from their studies.
In accordance with the Model UN tradition, our association aims at introducing students to the world of international diplomacy by providing them with valuable insights into the functioning of the United Nations. During our vibrant weekly debates, crisis simulations and various workshops, our members discuss fascinating political topics of the day, veritably stepping into the shoes of a UN diplomat. Model UN also enables its members to travel the world, representing their club and their university at major conferences all around the globe.
The Board is responsible for successfully managing the association's internal and external affairs. They provide the training and knowledge basis for new delegates to successfully participate in MUN conferences. Furthermore they act as mentors and ensure that the SGMUN spirit thrives.
